While you’re busy getting inspired and planning out the perfect space for our custom drapes and curtains, here are three helpful tips for picking out the best fabric for your home:

Texture

Consider the atmosphere of the room.

If you want to keep it casual, check out cotton or linen/polyester blends, silky rayon blends, and cotton sateen. These textures work best with any type of décor and give off a crisp, clean feel.

For a more formal mood, opt for heavy silk or velvet. Keep in mind that heavier fabrics are dry clean only.

Color

Do you want your curtains to match the décor, or do you want them to stand out?

For a nice blend of colors, pick curtains that match the tone of the wall but a few shades darker, or choose a soft, understated color in the room. If you want to stand out, pick an eye-catching, bold color.

Here in Florida, sunshine can cause unlined fabrics to fade over time. We suggest lined fabrics for long lasting color.

Patterns and Prints

Here’s another tip: if you have patterned bedding or furniture or rugs, decorate with solid curtains. If you have mostly solid bedding or furniture, add some flair with patterned drapery.

Small, neutral prints and patterns are a popular choice of fabric that reads like texture from afar.

Or, be bold and choose a large, graphic print in a color that complements elements of the room. Everything should have a balance.
